Rebels of Europe. Love the Dutch.
This is simply fascinating not to be captured in Curious things. It doesn’t get any curious than this.
One of Dutch’s contribution to the world are speed cameras. Not sure if you know, it was first invented by a race car enthusiast (biggest ironies there is to be) to measure speeds at corners to increase the efficiency of the car on the turns. Not knowing it would have a serious ripple effect across the world with traffic control police making billions of dollars on installing them everywhere. Like any good consumer activist society would work, they go against their own system.
De Tuf Tuf Club is a club with motor enthusiasts in Holland that goes about destroying the speed cameras in some splendid ways. There’s a dedicated website for that (I am trying to search the site, as I am writing this blog – let me know if you are able to find it).
Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear speaks to Frank, one of the founders of the club and this video is a must watch. It is absolutely brilliant.
Stay curious!
